We incorporate all seven areas of learning into the early year’s curriculum, ensuring the children have a well prepared, inviting, and stimulating environment. Staff provide a range of activities to cater for children’s individual interests and development needs, working towards the Early Years’ Outcomes – Early Learning Goals, across all areas of the curriculum.
At Child First Aylesbury, we operate a Key Person system. Your child will have an individual Key Person who will observe progress and development. The Key Person approach gives every child the reassurance to feel secure and cared for, helping them to become familiar with the Nursery environment and to feel confident and safe within it.
Both my son and daughter went to Child First and we have loved it. From the incredible food to the amazing staff, Child First became a second home! We will miss it so much when my son moves on to school in September. Highly recommend.
My child only started recently but so far she has had a lovely time. The menu is seasonal and I know she enjoys her meals there. She also takes naps so is coming home well rested where she didn't at a previous nursery. The facilities and play areas are great and my daughter is enjoying the space to play outdoors that they offer.
Fantastic nursery! My baby started nursery at 10 months of age. The staff are lovely and have a great rapport with my baby. Food is prepared fresh on site and he eats better than I do! The outdoor space is incredible, and there are lots of activities for my baby to engage in.

At Child First Aylesbury Preschool, our Forest school sessions puts great emphasis on being child led which means that although we as practitioners will always have activities and ideas up our sleeves our main role is to nurture, inspire and encourage children to follow their own interests and curiosities. We believe that the environment is the third teacher and children learn through firsthand experience simply through being immersed in the natural world around them.
There is so much to be learned simply through being immersed in nature and having freedom and autonomy to explore it. A typical session might include things like den building, imaginative play, natural arts and crafts, fire making, using tools and much much more!
Here at Child First Preschool, we offer a child centered approach. This means that we put the children at the heat of everything we do.
A child centered approach is one of the most effective types of learning, this taps into a child’s natural instincts. It ensures children are at the centre of their own learning and early years educators simply facilitate this. By early years educators not dictating learning, it allows children to set their own pace. Every child is different and this approach celebrates this. There is no one size fits all, but rather children have their own set of strengths and weaknesses.
At Child First Preschool, we facilitate in the moment planning. This is because young learners have a natural desire to explore and learn.
Therefore, rather than engaging in a wide range of present activities for children, early years educators must allow them to find their interests and use their interests to build upon and enhance their existing knowledge.
In the moment planning can be divided into the following three stages:
Good nutrition is essential during childhood, as it is a time of rapid growth, development and activity. This is also a vital time for healthy tooth development and prevention of decay.
A nutritious diet, together with good hydration, provides your child with good eating habits for life, healthy skin, a healthy weight, secure emotional well-being, and improved behaviour.
The pre-school staff have a key role in introducing young children to a wide variety of foods and establishing a pattern of regular meals and healthy snacks. Eating is about more than food, it is a social event too, and pre-school staff join your child’s mealtimes. Staff encourage interaction between the children, good table manners and the development of social skills. Staff are also on hand to support and assist, if needed.
Your child’s transition to solid foods can be challenging. We will work with you during the weaning period to ensure you are fully leading the next stage of your child’s development with their meals. The arrangements for children’s meals and snacks will, of course, be dependent on your child’s sessions whilst attending the pre-school. The pre-school Manager will discuss this information with you before your child starts at the pre-school.
To give every parent peace of mind, our seasonal menus are nutritionally well balanced. They rotate on a four-week cycle and are prepared by our qualified chefs to ensure we meet all children’s dietary and cultural needs, as well as exploring different tastes at mealtimes.
Meal and snack times are an important part of our daily routine across all age groups.
